RTI application.

Identify the relevant public authority and frame a request for identifiable information under the applicable process.

Scope before commitment Requirements explained
01 / THE BIG PICTURE

The right support.
With the details in view.

An RTI request asks a public authority for identifiable information held within the applicable framework. A focused request describes records, periods and subjects rather than seeking new explanations or a decision on a grievance. We help structure the request and identify the appropriate authority; eligibility, exemptions, fees and the relevant central or state procedure need review.

First, establish what applies

Documents should reflect the transaction, parties, location and applicable law. Drafting, legal advice, disputes, execution, stamping and registration need appropriate professional review; a template alone does not complete those steps.

What the scoped work can cover

  • Focused RTI application draft
  • Authority and record-request schedule
  • Submission and response-tracking checklist
02 / GET READY

A useful brief.
A stronger starting point.

Bring these inputs and existing records to the drafting discussion. They help turn a standard format into a document that reflects your situation.

  1. 01

Applicant name, contact details and eligibility information

  2. 02

Public authority and department believed to hold the records

  3. 03

Specific records, subject matter and date range

  4. 04

Relevant reference numbers or prior correspondence

  5. 05

Preferred access format and fee or exemption information where relevant

Share sensitive records only through an agreed secure channel after the engagement is confirmed. Do not send passwords, OTPs or signing keys.

03 / HOW IT MOVES FORWARD

One step.
Then the next.

A clear sequence, with room to resolve the details that are specific to your business.

  1. 01

    Identify the records

Turn the information need into specific records and a manageable period.

  2. 02

    Select the authority

Check whether the relevant holder is a central or state public authority.

  3. 03

    Prepare the application

Frame clear requests and review personal information or exemption concerns.

  4. 04

    Plan submission

Identify the applicable portal or offline channel, fees and acknowledgement tracking.

Scope, fees and timing are agreed after review. Document readiness, professional review and any authority queries affect the schedule. Statutory charges, testing, execution and other third-party costs are identified where relevant.

04 / BEYOND THIS STEP

Keep the next
responsibility in view.

Retain the acknowledgement and fee record, compare the response with each request and review any appeal requirements promptly.

05 / A LITTLE MORE CLARITY

Good questions.
Useful answers.

01Can the central RTI portal be used for every state authority?+

No. Check the authority’s applicable channel; the central portal is for participating central public authorities.

02Can RTI ask an authority to solve my grievance?+

It is a route to information. A grievance or request for action normally needs the appropriate separate process.

03Are appeals included?+

An appeal is a separate stage based on the actual response or lack of response and applicable procedure.
